The Grant Park Farmers Market sets up every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Beacon, 1040 Grant St. SE, and its page lists it as year-round. The places around it are changing. Estrellita, the Filipino restaurant on Woodward Avenue, is headed to South Downtown. Kinship Butcher & Sundry is slated to open a cafe and bar at the Beacon. Bellwood Coffee announced a corner at Boulevard and Rosalia.
Those three moves point at one question: where does a Sunday go once the market packs up at 1? Two of the announced changes put new doors in Grant Park, and one of them shares an address with the market. If that plan holds, the after-market stop moves onto the same property as the market.
The one appointment nobody is rescheduling
The Grant Park Farmers Market began in 2011. It has been voted Best Farmers Market in Atlanta Magazine several years running. The market runs rain or shine, and its EBT program doubles the value of dollars spent through Georgia Fresh For Less.
The market's dog policy is specific. Dogs stay on a short, non-expandable leash at an adult owner's side, away from produce, plants, food products, and product displays. Anything a dog damages belongs to the owner. Management can ask owners to remove a dog that breaks the rules.
The market's page lists a December closure for 2026, so a holiday-week plan should start with a look at that calendar. Outside that closure, the market is the fixed point in the routine. The restaurants and coffee shops around it are the part that changes.
The Woodward Avenue departure
Estrellita opened on Woodward Avenue in 2020. Three years later it became a Michelin Bib Gourmand, and as of Rough Draft Atlanta's January 2026 report it had kept that recognition every year since. The restaurant serves cuisine from the Pampanga region of the Philippines. Owners Hope Webb and Chef Walter Cortado are moving it to the bottom floor of 115 Broad St. SW in South Downtown, after six years in Grant Park.
The move is about space. The Broad Street location has a much larger footprint than the Woodward Avenue dining room. That gives the owners room to expand the menu and add a bar. The patio will be shared with Kitchen Counter, the new restaurant from Todd Ginsberg and Josh Kim, and with Glide Pizza.
The January story pointed to a fall 2026 opening. Rough Draft's late-May roundup said Estrellita was on track to open by year's end, along with Delilah's Everyday Soul. No closing date for the Woodward Avenue dining room has been reported, so a dinner planned there this fall is worth confirming first.
What Kinship is building at the Beacon
Kinship Butcher & Sundry has a Virginia-Highland shop known for breakfast sandwiches. In October 2025 it announced a second location at the Beacon, slated for the following fall. It will take a 4,000-square-foot space in the green building, in a retail spot next to the former Elsewhere Brewing, which closed in 2024.
The plan is larger than a second butcher counter. Owners Chef Myles Moody and Rachael Pack described a full-service cafe serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast and coffee would start early in the morning. A bar would open at lunchtime with beer, wines by the glass, and a short cocktail list from Connan Moody. Most of the seating would be outside on a covered patio.
The butchery grows too. A cutting room, which the Virginia-Highland shop lacks, would allow more curing, sausage production, and whole-animal breakdown. A seafood butchery program is new to the concept, with fish sourced from the Southeast and the Gulf. The Grant Park location triples the size of Kinship's operation.
The opening schedule matters for a Sunday plan. Kinship said it would open Wednesday through Sunday to start. It would keep that schedule for at least a year before opening daily, which gives the team time to learn what the neighborhood wants. Sunday falls inside that schedule.
The owners both live in Ormewood Park, and Moody grew up there. Pack described the Beacon this way:
"This is another hub of community."
They said they are banking on foot traffic from surrounding neighborhoods and the Southside Beltline.
I found no report confirming that Kinship has opened as of today. It is slated for this fall.
The corner at Boulevard and Rosalia
Bellwood Coffee announced its Grant Park move in August 2025, when it also announced it was leaving East Atlanta Village. The EAV location was scheduled to close at the end of 2025. The new shop is set for the former Bennett's Market space at 568 Boulevard SE, at the corner of Boulevard and Rosalia Street. The company also has locations in Riverside and on Peachtree Street in southern Buckhead.
Atlanta Coffee Shops reported co-owner Charles Norman's account of the search. Bellwood looked in EAV for several months. It spent a couple of months negotiating for a space on Glenwood, and the landlord could not get that space into suitable shape. Norman said the Grant Park shop would carry more vintage decor than the renderings show, similar to the Riverside shop.
The reporting from 2025 targeted early 2026. I found no report confirming an opening date, so Bellwood's own channels are the place to check hours.
Where each piece stands
| Place | Where | What has been reported | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grant Park Farmers Market | The Beacon, 1040 Grant St. SE | Sundays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., year-round, since 2011 | The December 2026 closure date |
| Estrellita | Woodward Ave. now, 115 Broad St. SW next | Reported for fall 2026 opening in South Downtown | Last day on Woodward Avenue |
| Kinship Butcher & Sundry | The Beacon, next to the former Elsewhere Brewing | Announced for fall 2026, Wednesday through Sunday to start | Whether it has opened |
| Bellwood Coffee | 568 Boulevard SE, former Bennett's Market | Announced for early 2026 | Whether it is serving, and its hours |
What the moves have in common
Each change is driven by room. Estrellita wanted a larger footprint and a bar. Kinship wanted a cutting room and a cafe kitchen. Bellwood needed a space that worked, and the one it pursued on Glenwood did not come together.
Both arrivals are taking space that someone had already left. Kinship's is an unoccupied retail spot at the Beacon. Bellwood's is the former Bennett's Market. Both arrivals move into addresses that were already retail spaces.
The stops that were already there
The established places sit on other streets. Discover Atlanta's Grant Park guide, published in 2024, points to the Cherokee Avenue cluster that includes Dakota Blue and Grant Central Pizza and Pasta. Around the corner on Memorial Drive it names Mezcalito's Cocina and Tequila Bar and Ria's Bluebird. It also names Six Feet Under, a seafood restaurant whose name nods to Oakland Cemetery across the street. A guide from that year can be out of date, so a quick check of hours before heading out is sensible.
Zoo Atlanta's events page lists Boo at the Zoo among its fall programs. Dates for this year belong on the Zoo's own calendar.
Before you plan around any of it
- Kinship is announced for the Beacon this fall. Look for an opening confirmation before building a breakfast around it.
- Bellwood was slated for early 2026 at 568 Boulevard SE. Check that it is serving before a coffee run.
- Estrellita's Woodward Avenue dining room has no reported closing date. Call before a dinner there this fall.
- The market's page shows a December 2026 closure. Look at the date before a holiday-week Sunday.
- Bring a leash that is short and not expandable if the dog is coming to the market.
The market at 1040 Grant St. SE stays on its Sunday schedule, and Kinship's Wednesday-through-Sunday plan covers Sundays at the same address.
